MORNING STROLL

Bukkoji Temple Grounds – 3 min. walk

Start your day with a peaceful stroll through Bukkoji Temple. Swing by KRFT Café at Kabin Kyoto, grab a cup of coffee or tea, and take in the tranquility of the temple grounds with its traditional architecture and serene atmosphere.  Bukkoji Temple, founded by the priest Ryogen in 1324 , was originally located in Yamashina, but moved to downtown Kyoto in 1586.  There are several halls to explore and the grounds are perfect for some quiet reflection or stunning photo ops.


While you are there, slide over to D&D, a trendy shop and locally-sourced restaurant where you can enjoy picturesque dining in a traditional temple setting and check out the best in regional and design-forward souvenirs. You’ll love browsing their curated collection of local and international goods.


ART & CULTURE

VOU Gallery/Art Shop – 1 min. walk

Explore the local art scene at VOU, an art gallery and shop featuring modern and contemporary pieces by Kyoto-based artists and beyond.  With regularly rotating exhibitions, you are sure to catch something new each and every time you visit, and you can even take home some colorful and eclectic pieces yourself.


Their shop is full of vibrant and eclectic art - ceramics, stickers, hats, sweatshirts, tote bags galore — and the designs are as catchy as your favorite dream pop tune.


LUNCH BREAK

Shojin Cafe Waka – 5 min. walk

This small and cozy temple-side restaurant serving vegetarian Buddhist lunch sets will leave you feeling revived: vegan and delicious, wholesome meals in a cute, cozy space that even has lovely garden seats. The staff are wonderful and radiate a peaceful energy, while the ingredients they choose are seasonal and nutritious, sure to leave you satisfied and ready for your next adventure.

COFFEE BREAK

Boske Kissaten – 5 min. walk

Sometimes you just need a second dose of coffee and a bit of a writing break. Boske Kissaten, a charming, old-school café with a retro interior is perfect for slowing down with a hand-poured coffee or soothing jam and toast while soaking in a nostalgic atmosphere.  They also have a lunch menu full of classic cafe comfort dishes, including two delicious omurice options.


DAY-DRINK OR TWO

Fox Beer – 5 min. walk

Sidle on up to this makeshift garden right smack in the middle of the city. Treat yourself to some selectively curated beers from unique spots all over Japan ranging from Okinawa to Chiba, Kyushu to Kyoto, and hang out for a gab session with the chatty & friendly foxes of Fox Beer in their warm and welcoming garden/RV.  The perfect place to pre-game before you go out and see some live music ⬇️

EVENING ENTERTAINMENT

Taku Taku Live House – 30 sec. walk

Cap off your day with a thrilling set of live tunes at Taku Taku, one of Kyoto’s most iconic music venues, basically next door to Kabin Koji. Located in an old building that once functioned as a brewhouse and specializing in rock and blues, the acoustics and surroundings ARE something to write home about.  This is a one of kind spot to experience local and international acts and maybe even make some new friends in the Kyoto live scene!

NIGHTCAP

KRFT Bar – 2 miN. walk

Wrap up the day with a cheers at KRFT, our very own bar just steps away from Kabin Koji at Kabin Kyoto. Sip on one of our signature Arrival or Departure cocktails, take a breather and relive the moments of your storied day exploring the entrancing streets of Kyoto.
